It just gets better and better. Nearly the entire bell choir was able to make it to practice last night, except one person whose neightborhood hadn't been touched by snow plows. We picked up Kathy and Ann, since their driveways and streets - respectively - weren't particularly passable. The adventures occurred mostly around home. A little plow had cleared about a lane worth of space along the middle of the road in our neighborhood, so once we got the van out of the drivway, it was pretty good. A little dicey, but passable. Until we encounter the pickup truck just sitting there, blocking the way. It wasn't stuck, it didn't have the lights on, it was just sitting, no apparent rhyme or reason. We had to back up all the way back past our house to the through street on the other side. There was no turning around, not without risking getting seriously stuck. The main roads were and are quite fine, cleared all the way down to the pavement, but we did get rather jammed trying to get into the church parking lot. Fortunately most of the bell choir was there to help push! As if this wasn't fun enough, by the time we got back, another of those little plows had been through, thoughtfully turning in front of our house and leaving lots of snow in front of our driveway. It did not prove to be possible to plow through it, so we had to dig out. A foot and a half of snow is not unheard of in this part of the state, but it is a record for snow from one storm. It's apparently too much for the city to clear in a prompt and respectable manner. But Dad made it out fine to get lunch, so we should be good to go this evening. Assuming the below zero temperatures don't get us first. Brrr! ~Erin, 1:23 PM Comments: Post a Comment
