Whee!
Gina only approves of silly trailing ribbons because she gets to play with them. Gina is cheerful, but my terrorism seminar is not. At least I started on a light note, right?

Not that I expected this seminar to be less than depressing, mind you, but the fact remains that it isn't cheerful. We've just finished Mark Juergensmeyer's Terror in the Mind of God, which is about (according to the subtitle) the Global Rise of Religious Terrorism. (Happy stuff, that.) The thing to know about this book is that if you buy the completely revised third edition, looking all shiny and new, you should flip to page 166 and see what comes next. If it's page 215, you're getting gipped, but it's only 25 pages or so because after 238 it skips back to 191 and continues to the end. (Note than both of these skips happen on a single spread. It's page 166 on the left, and page 215 on the right, and so on.) Confused yet?

My classmates and I hope to get refunds, discounts, or complete copies of the book. It's a well known publication from a legitimate publisher... these things aren't supposed to get past the screeners. (And it was published in 2003, so someone really should have noticed the glitch by now...)
