Q: How many emails does it take to get the paper online? A: Seven or eight definately, and then you still have to do all the normal work. Things that have gone wrong putting the paper online today:The network crawled, dragged, and died this morning... multiple times, and all of them while I was in the tower trying to work. (Five articles in a hour and fifteen minutes is not a good track record.) The entire sports section is not saved where it's supposed to be, apparently because of network problems yesterday. It didn't occur to anyone that they needed to tell me this. The CD with all photos to go in the paper is in a computer in a locked office to which only one person has the key. (Unfortunately, there is no consensus as to who that person might be.) It didn't occur to anyone that they needed to tell me this, either. My title on the masthead now reads "Online Assistant," as if there was anyone to assist other than myself. (And the actual assistants aren't credited at all.) This week's film review have the title of the movie in the headline... in quotes. It's not like it isn't in italics in the first sentence of the article, or anything. Oh, wait, it is. Okay, so this one really has nothing to do with putting the paper online, but it's irritating, darn it!I've spent three and a half hours on this stuff, and it's still not finished... it usually takes that long to get the whole thing completely online. ::inarticulate sounds of irritation:: ~Erin, 5:07 PM Comments: Post a Comment
